It’s Food Allergy Awareness Week, so I thought this would be a good time to kick off my new blog. Above you see my dark chocolate cupcakes with vanilla buttercream, free of gluten, soy, milk, eggs, peanuts and tree-nuts. See? Allergen-free can be awesome!
My name is Sheila Ray. I work full-time, and I’m mom of two fantastic kids, Savannah and Landon. At age six months, Savannah was diagnosed with severe food allergies to milk, eggs and peanuts. We have definitely made adjustments to how we live, but we do many things that other families do, and more.
I am an avid baker, and I love experimenting with new recipes. One big adjustment for me was learning to bake allergen-free.
Savannah is now four years old, and together we bake up an allergen-free storm of cupcakes, cookies, muffins and other goodies. Not only is it fun to bake together, but we love that EVERYONE can enjoy our creations, whether they have food allergies or not. Daddy loves our snickerdoodle cupcakes, and our chocolate cake donuts are Landon’s favorite!
So begins my blog, where you will learn about allergen-free living and baking. In our home, we primarily bake without milk, eggs and peanuts. But, being part of the allergen-free community, we have also learned to bake free of other allergens. Whenever we bring treats to parties and events, we do our best to make sure everyone can enjoy our creations, whether they have food allergies or not.
I hope you find this blog helpful and inspirational.
