I have been to the Gluten and Allergen Free Expo three times in the past, and it is always a fantastic experience. It’s not often that you can go somewhere with more than 150 allergen-friendly vendors sampling and selling their products. Here are my top five reasons to attend:
1. Everyone there “gets it.”
Everyone at the Expo knows about cross-contamination, your worries and your fears. If they tell you it is allergen-free, you can feel confident that it really is! All foods are gluten-free, and all other allergens are identified easily on every product.
2. You can connect with others in the allergen-free community.
Meet other food allergic people and their families, vendors, speakers, or maybe even the founder of the Gluten and Allergen Free Expo, Jen Cafferty herself!
3. You will learn a lot.
You can take a class, speak to vendors about products, services or support groups, or meet allergen savvy healthcare practitioners.
4. There’s a special nut-free section.
For those of us with nut allergies, there’s an entire section of vendors that offer nut-free products, including Sunbutter and Enjoy Life (which is my favorite vendor at the Expo!).
5. The FREE samples!
Every year I’ve gone to the Expo, I’m handed an empty bag at the entrance, and I leave with a full bag of goodies. You’ll get samples, coupons and literature from your favorite companies, like Home Free, Lucy’s, Bob’s Red Mill, Ener-G, Go Picnic, and Surf Sweets. It’s fantastic to be able to taste so many different products before you buy.
Maybe I’ll be seeing you at the Expo this year!
